North Vancouver
The 18th Street Community Care Society was incorporated in February 1996. Today the Society has numerous residential facilities and programs for people who live with a chronic mental illness
Our experience with special needs clients started in 1992 when we began serving communities on Vancouver's North Shore. Our role is to provide housing and support services to people who are managing a mental illness and assist them in achieving independence and an improved quality of life. Each of these clients has a caseworker who monitors progress, and in some instances Community Support Living Workers are assigned to clients depending on the need. At present we support 96 individuals in this housing program. All our clients are referred through Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.
